SELF EXTINGUISHING MATERIAL - SELF EXTINGUISHING MATERIAL

Self-extinguishing materials for the electrical sector.

The possibility of short circuits, and therefore the high probability of the development of open flames, made the use of these products necessary.

The main standards used and requested worldwide are: UL 94 at UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES INC.

In the electricity sector, the risk of fire is normally linked to electrical faults (overloads, short circuits, etc.) rather than to open flames.

Self-extinguishing is a property that is obtained through particular formulations made with flame retardant additives that prevent or reduce the spread of flame in the event of fire.

The classification of self-extinguishing technopolymers are:

HB CLASSIFICATION (happy burning) The specimen burns normally without releasing toxic gases.

CLASSIFICATION V2 The time it takes for the specimen to go out after removing the flame is < 30 seconds.

The sum of 10 applications does not exceed 250 seconds.

There are no phenomena of burning embers after 60 sec. from the removal of the flame.

The released drops can ignite the surrounding material.

CLASSIFICATION V1 The time it takes for the specimen to go out after removing the flame is < 30 seconds.

The sum of 10 applications does not exceed 250 seconds.

There are no phenomena of burning embers after 60 sec. from the removal of the flame.

The drops that are released DO NOT ignite the surrounding material.

CLASSIFICATION V0 The time it takes for the specimen to go out after removing the flame is < 5 seconds.

The sum of 10 applications does not exceed 50 seconds.

There are no phenomena of burning embers after 30 sec. from the removal of the flame.

The drops that are released DO NOT ignite the surrounding material.
